Licence
What you may do with what is here, and what we had to do to publish it.
Our own work
Original text and photographs on this site are © the site's authors, all rights reserved, unless a page says otherwise. Quoting a passage with a link back is fine and needs no permission.
Imported data
Coordinates and names imported in bulk come from Wikidata, which is CC0 — public domain, no share-alike. That choice is deliberate rather than incidental: OpenStreetMap's ODbL carries share-alike obligations that attach to the *database*, not just to individual records, and mixing ODbL geodata into this one would make the licence of the whole thing ambiguous.
Where OpenStreetMap data is used to fill a gap Wikidata cannot, it is recorded as such on /credits with the ODbL attribution the licence requires, and the specific facts it supplied are traceable per field.
No prose is imported from Wikipedia — not quoted, not paraphrased. Wikipedia text is CC BY-SA, and CC BY-SA is contagious to the page it lands on. Structured facts only.
Maps
Vector basemaps are served by OpenFreeMap from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL.
Japanese topographic, aerial and hillshade tiles come from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (国土地理院) and are marked 出典:国土地理院 as their terms require. Where tiles are composited or adjusted for display, that constitutes 編集・加工 under those terms and is noted here.
Analysis certificates
Photographs of a facility's 温泉分析書 are reproduced as documentary evidence of the facts on them — a certificate is a public posting that any bather can read off the wall. They are credited to whoever photographed them and are not offered for reuse.
